Valencia To Host European Solar PV Conference

The beautiful Mediterranean city of Valencia, Spain was this year's host for the Annual European Exhibition and Conference serving the renewable energy Photovoltaic (Solar Panel) industry.

This year's exhibition highlighted the dynamic growth of solar cell acceptance as a valid, renewable energy source around the world. Guests from nearly all industrialized countries attended this show and conference attesting to the existing and future growth of this industry.

Four large Pavilions dominated the large Valencia Exhibition Center with exhibiting companies around the world attending. At times, the exhibition was reminiscent of the NEPCON Exhibitions serving the Printed Wiring Board Fabrication industry 25 years ago. The halls were interspersed with equipment and consumable suppliers, as well as a host of solar panel fabricating companies. Well known names like Schmid, Bürkle, Newport Corporation, 3M, Applied Materials, Northfield Automation Systems and others known in the fabrication of printed wiring boards had impressive displays at this PV Show.

Gene W.North American industry printed wiring board personnel, such as Gene Weiner, of the Quantum Solar Group, Inc. (Market and Technical consulting), and Matt Holzeman, of the Christopher Group (Distribution), were in attendance.

According to Deutsche Bank, in their May 27, 2008 Industry Outlook, their view of the Solar PV Industry is "long-term bullish....but to expect a ‘shakeout' and ‘near term volatility' in the short term, as capacity will exceed demand in the short term. In the long term, as the cost of PV solar energy progresses toward grid parity, this should drive growth for sometime into the future."
