IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DRI Energy, the solar industry’s preferred EPC contractor, announced today the completion of a 320 kW solar photovoltaic system for Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose, CA. DRI Energy installed over 1100 modules covering a 1.25 acre roof. Over the 25-year life of the system, the estimated savings in electricity is expected to save the food bank nearly $3 million, translating into nearly six million additional meals for the local community.
The system was made possible through a generous financial donation by Cypress Semiconductor Corp. and the donation of high-efficiency solar modules by SunPower Corp. DRI Energy donated their services through reduced construction fees and extended labor services. The use of local labor contributed to the overall mission of sustainability for Second Harvest Food Bank.
“Second Harvest’s solar installation was made very easy by virtue of the care and professionalism of the DRI Energy team. DRI Energy was responsive to our questions, thoughtful in terms of planning the installation and flawless in terms of execution,” said Kathryn Jackson, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank. “DRI Energy staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs throughout the process. We can’t speak highly enough of DRI Energy and the job that their team of professionals did on behalf of the food bank.”
“Our core values include working with integrity and doing what we say we will do in the safest way possible,” said Steve Kelley, Executive Vice President of DRI Energy. “Helping Second Harvest Food Bank achieve savings of over $3 million is what our company commitment is all about.”
