Shoals Technologies Group’s MultiLink™ Junction Box Product Line Integrates Ampt’s Module-Level Optimizers to Lower Cost of Commercial and Utility-Scale Photovoltaic Systems
PORTLAND, Tenn. & FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Shoals Technologies Group and Ampt, LLC today announced the Shoals MultiLink Accessory Module powered by Ampt, as part of Shoals’ MultiLink™ Junction Box product line, ideal for large-scale solar. The Shoals MultiLink Accessory Module powered by Ampt, uses Ampt’s innovative DC/DC module-level optimizers and patented Smart Panel Technology™. Ampt’s optimizers lower photovoltaic (PV) system costs associated with deployment, balance of system (BOS) and operations and maintenance (O&M) as well as maximize the power generation of every solar module significantly reducing the levelized cost of energy (LCOE).
“By partnering with technology leaders like Ampt, we’re able to provide our customers the most innovative products, enabling them to reduce system cost and differentiate themselves from competitors,” said Dean Solon, CEO for Shoals Technology Group. “We are pleased to offer the MultiLink Accessory Module powered by Ampt and look forward continuing to build our partnership.”
The Shoals MultiLink Accessory Module powered by Ampt, also includes Ampt Mode™ technology which directly lowers the cost and increases efficiency of system’s PV inverters, a key differentiator that only Ampt offers. In addition to lowering system cost and increasing inverter efficiency, Ampt’s optimizers increase the lifetime energy output of commercial and utility-scale PV systems by putting maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in each PV module to recapture mismatch losses between modules and strings, as well as enabling the overall system to operate more efficiently than a conventional solar array.
The Shoals MultiLink Accessory Module powered by Ampt is available with or without module-level wireless communication capabilities which provide greater visibility into system performance and failures to reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, by communicating with up to 2,000 PV modules per gateway, Ampt’s industry leading wireless communication is 40 times more scalable than competitive solutions.
“We are pleased to be working with Shoals Technologies Group as their vast experience and focus on providing products that lower costs for the large-scale PV market directly aligns with Ampt’s technology capabilities,” said Levent Gun, CEO at Ampt. “By reducing BOS costs and ongoing operating expenses up to 50 percent or more, Ampt technology will help Shoals to further decrease system cost for large-scale PV.”
The Shoals MultiLink™ junction box features a universal interface compatible with accessory modules from all leading PV electronics manufacturers. The MultiLink™ junction box is available with or without diodes and can ship as a standard junction box with an optional accessory module.
