SolarCity Opens Expanded Albany Operations Center, Seeks Local Hires

ALBANY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SolarCity®, a national leader in clean energy services, has opened an expanded operations center in Albany that will bring new jobs and better energy options to New York businesses, non-profit organizations and homeowners. SolarCity can currently offer many New Yorkers the ability to install solar energy for free and to pay less for solar electricity than they currently pay for utility power.

Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings was among the attendees at the Operations Center’s grand opening.

SolarCity has quadrupled its New York workforce, from 10 to 46 employees, since October 2011, and is now hiring for 34 positions across the state, including eight in Albany. On July 23 SolarCity received notification from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) that the company is now a NYSERDA-approved “Full” Affiliated Contractor. In June Solar City was accredited by the Building Performance Institute (BPI), and became a NYSERDA affiliated contractor of the Home Performance with Energy Star program.
